"Storm Tiger Mountain" is a fictional snapshot of a small, poor Russian family living in East Hollywood. The film centers around Jon (12) and his sister Nastya (8). When Jon's mother sends them to the store to buy her cigarettes, the two pass the time on the streets of LA playing hide-and-seek and telling jokes.
The film attempts to capture a child's sense of being alone and growing up in the same manner as Victor Erice's "Spirit of the Beehive," the short films of Lynne Ramsey, Clu Galager's "A Day with the Boys," and Francois Truffaut's "Les Mistons."
